Kizito Bijyinama Musabimana
Kizito Musabimana’s work is centered on a simple question: How do we build communities where people can heal, belong, and thrive?
He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Rwandan Canadian Healing Centre (RCHC), an organization dedicated to supporting PTSD and trauma recovery, community leadership, and advocacy within African communities in Canada. Through this work, he aims to explore long term solutions that strengthen communities and expand opportunities for future generations.
Having lived through the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, Kizito’s journey has deeply shaped his commitment to healing and community building. After overcoming years of PTSD and depression, he dedicated his life to helping others find pathways toward recovery, leadership, and collective progress.
Alongside this work, he is a Co-Founder of Ubuntu Land Trust and Development (Ubuntu LTD), where he works with partners to advance the African Canadian Affordable Housing (ACAH) Village Initiative. This initiative explores new approaches to community centered housing that integrate affordability, cultural connection, and economic opportunity.
Kizito’s work often focuses on bringing people together across sectors, community organizations, governments, developers, and social innovators, to develop solutions that address housing challenges, support people of African descent, including newcomers and refugees, and build stronger communities.
A storyteller at his core, his work is about connecting people, building structures that benefit communities, and creating space for leadership to emerge. He believes that when communities organize around shared values of healing, dignity, and cooperation, they can develop solutions that not only address immediate needs but also help shape a better future.
